Kite 2024 Naish pivot Nvision - review

How good is the new 2024 NAISH Pivot Nvision kite and why? I tested the dragon and in this article I will write down my feelings and impressions.

What makes the 2024 NAISH Pivot Nvision kite so different?

Everything revolves around the revolutionary material Aluula, which replaced the classic dacron. It is a composite material made of technical fabrics and films, which are not glued together with adhesives as with other materials, and the films and fabrics are joined together without adhesives by patented technology. This makes the Aluula material much lighter and at the same time stronger than other materials. For example, compared to classic Dacron, it weighs about half and at the same time has twice as much strength, not to mention significantly less flexibility, which is undesirable.

tensile strenght (N) 600 1200

Thanks to these parameters, there was a drastic reduction in the weight of the kits, which made it possible to modify their design and improve aerodynamics even further, without a negative effect on stability and other flight characteristics. The result is a kite that flies in weaker wind, in which it has more power, is more stable, turns faster and thanks to modified aerodynamics, there should be a greater range of wind even at the upper limit. Aluula is also supposed to be more resistant to penetration and UV radiation than dacron, so the lifespan of the kite should be extended. The theory sounds like a fairy tale, but what is the reality?

How good is Naish Pivot Nvision in real life?

I received the 2024 NAISH Pivot Nvision kite in size 12m for testing. I wasn't very happy about it, because for my weight, a 12m blower is already a big kite, which I can't really load to get the jump dynamics I would imagine in weaker winds ( that's also why I ride lighter and faster chamber kits). As for the salary, I was still very curious about the dragon.

First look at the dragon

At first glance, a layman would probably not recognize any difference from ordinary kits except for the "luxury" impression created by the golden inflatable skeleton and the very conservative graphic design of the rest of the kite.

A closer look at the Aluula material

A closer look and touch can already tell the difference. The Aluula material is very thin and partially transparent, which I really like, because inside the inflated constructions you can see the "splash", which will be an advantage during repairs and also when buying used equipment and evaluating the overall condition of the kite. At the same time, the material is very rigid with a shiny "plastic" surface, on which water does not stick at all (when wet, the kite does not become as heavy as with dacron, which absorbs some water).

How the kite flies

Right after the first start, I was surprised by the amount of power for how weak the wind was and at the same time the ease with which the kite went up. The difference compared to the classic version of the kite was noticeable even on the water. Due to the fact that the kite has no problem flying up due to its significantly smaller weight when flapping, the greater power was noticeable even when riding and I would say that it is almost equal to chamber kites.

Turning is also faster, when the kite is able to turn quickly practically around the ear and at the same time it does not "overbrake" and "skid". The kit turns beautifully in a circle with constant speed and thrust. This is a luxury feature for kiteloops, but unfortunately I won't try it with a 12m kite until I gain another 30 kg :-D

The feeling on the bar is unusually stiff for an inflatable kite of this size, even though I didn't blow the kite to any great pressure and I was surprised by the relatively large pull on the bar. Thanks to this, the kite on the bar is very easy to read and provides fast and accurate feedback. That's how I like it, and "rubber" inflatables really don't fit me. In this respect too, Pivot Nvision approaches chamber kits and has plus points compared to classic inflatables.

The jumps are unusually smooth and stretchy for an inflatable with excellent predictability. Even the dynamics of the kite during the approach to the jump are better than with the classic version, but with my weight the kite "comes to life" and accelerates, only when it blows a little more and I play it properly, then it starts to carry it nicely to the height. The guys who were 15 kg heavier enjoyed the kite to the full and praised how fast it is in the turns and for long foaty jumps.

Stability is significantly better, especially when it comes to falling on your head in light winds. The lightened lead doesn't have such a tendency to start falling down when the bar is released. If you accidentally manage to hang the lines, the kite backs up with the wind into the window rather than immediately falling on your head like it is the case with classic blowers made of heavier dacron. This will be appreciated mainly by less experienced kiters and lovers of riding in waves.

Restarts from the water are easier due to the lower weight and the kite turns willingly even in really weak wind. In combination with greater power, the drivable low wind limit moves lower again, which, especially on a hydrofoil, is a huge advantage with an inflatable.

What I hadn't thought about before is the owner's social status in the kiter community. When I take out the kite on a kite safari in Egypt, the local kiter boys shouted Aluula, Aluula!, and when I waved at them to take the kite and go for a ride, their eyes lit up. For them, riding such a kite is like driving a really expensive sports car for most of us. Despite that, no one looked at me as a snob, but rather as a friend who has no problem lending such a toy to a stranger with confidence.

Conclusion

Naish Pivot Nvision is better than the standard version in everything thanks to the super light Aluula material. I didn't find a single negative except that the rigid material is a little harder to pack into the plane so that the kite takes up a minimum of space. But the only big thing happens when you look at the price tag. However, I think that over time the price difference between Dacron and Aluul kits will decrease as the volume of production increases, and probably competition with similar material will appear for the currently only manufacturer. Maybe we will see that the prices will equalize and kites will be made only from this material, because it pushes the boundaries of what kites can do a little further and Dacron will become history.
