Kiteboarding vs wingsurfing - what are the differences?

Wingsurfing and kitesurfing. Two sports that are very similar at first glance, but when we take a closer look we find a number of differences.

The first difference you'll notice is the "wing" element itself. In wingsurfing, you hold the "wing" directly in your hands and use the wind to move the board. On the other hand, kitesurfing uses a kite that is attached to the rider using lines and a harness.

Another significant difference is control. Wingsurfing is much easier to learn because it requires less coordination between body, board and wing. Kitesurfing, on the other hand, requires more skill and practice, as kite control is more complicated and precise timing of kite and board maneuvers is often important.

In terms of safety, wingsurfing is considered safer because you can simply let go of the wing in case of problems. However, in kitesurfing it is more complicated because the kite is attached to the body and can drag you in the event of an accident until you activate the kite's safety release. The dragon can also develop much greater force when handled poorly and thus cause more serious injuries not only to the rider, but also to others around.
