How to pack for a kite trip on the plane with a check in bag?

The weight and length of the board in the bag more than often marks us kiters at the airport unkindly in the category "counter for excessive luggage, sports bags and extra charge over there...."

Collapsible split boards have been on the market for some time now and they are proving themselves more and more in the travel-kiter mania, but they are still being solved :-))

So I took the liberty of writing a short report on the subject of luggage, versus size, versus weight.

Without dizzying culinary art, I used the following ingredients:

1 X Inflatable Kite 14.0
1 X Inflatable Kite 10.0
1 X trapeze incl. leash
1 X Pump
1X kiteboard split twintip with binding, fins and handle
1X lumbar trapeze - L
1X long neoprene 4/3 size.. L
and most importantly
1X Ultralight Nobile Check-in Bag

Preparation:

- How else but without using a screwdriver (Nobile does not carry such dangerous things on airplanes :-) I dismantled the board. count like this for about 5 seconds.

- I took the kits out of the bags. They unnecessarily increase the weight of the total luggage and mainly serve as a backpack and therefore also hand luggage in the cabin.

- On the contrary, the board went into a protective split bag, which the owner of the nobile split receives in the price of the board. Since I used the medium board length of 136 cm, it is better to protect the board from rubbing against itself in the bag. This measure is for connoisseurs who don't want even a dot let alone a dash in the paint on their new board :-) In the case of split infinity boards or gates in the form of a flying carpet, this point is almost insignificant. Not because they won't get into the bag, but they definitely won't be flying around in the bag to scratch themselves.

- I piled up the remaining necessities without the need for beaver packing and switched on.

Result?

weight 18.5 kg including bag, which itself weighs 2.65 kg including wheels!

measures 90x48x20cm

The price for airport surcharges?... that depends on where and with which company you fly.

So that someone doesn't say I'm bullshitting, here Thomas worked out a quite similar result:

Určitě se najde více receptů jak na bagáž než jen v tomto článku. A jistě se najdou i kiteři, kteří letos letí za větrem poprvé a vaše zkušenosti ocení.

Podělte se.... tady je ještě jedna možnost jak ušetřit.
